About us

Matthieu and Sébastien, a Swiss couple travelling and sharing stories

We are Matthieu and Sebastien, a couple based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Since we met in 2016, travel has become one of the central threads of our life together. This website is where we gather, over time, what we have seen, lived, and loved on the road.

This page is for anyone who wants to know who is behind the photos, the long-form stories, and our social media posts.

Who we are

Matthieu (as seen by Sébastien)

Matthieu is one of the most naturally joyful people you can meet. Easy to live with, enthusiastic about doing things, always ready for a new experience. He is funny all the time, makes us laugh from morning to night, and has that ability to go naturally toward others, talk to strangers, and try what he does not know yet.

Sébastien (as seen by Matthieu)

Sebastien is the kindest and most caring person. At first glance, it is not always obvious: he takes time to observe, understand, and give his trust. With the people he loves, he is deeply generous. He naturally gives his time, his energy, and his attention, without counting and without expecting anything in return. He is the one behind most of the images and videos you see on our social channels and on this website.

Who we are together

Where Matthieu is spontaneous, Sebastien tends to plan. Where Matthieu naturally goes toward others, Sebastien observes first. We balance each other, like couples who have had time to truly get to know one another.

One idea has guided us from the start, and it is probably the key to how we work: we are a team. We support each other, push each other upward, and celebrate each other's successes without jealousy. In public, we stay united. Disagreements are handled at home, between the two of us, never in front of others. It is this simple, almost instinctive loyalty that allows us to move forward together and makes an adventure like this possible.

Our relationship with travel

We have been traveling for a long time, well before this world tour. Over the years, we accumulated city breaks, long weekends, road trips, and longer journeys whenever work allowed it. Europe, Asia, the Americas, Africa: each destination taught us something, about the world and about ourselves.

This website is dedicated to all of that. The current world tour obviously has an important place here, but it is only one chapter. You will also find our shorter trips, the ones that marked us before this big departure, and the journeys we will continue to make after we return.

How we travel

We are curious travelers. We want to see as much as possible, walk a lot, eat everywhere, and meet people. We say yes more often than no. And we take a lot of photos, as people who follow us already know.

For accommodation, we are much more hotel than hostel. We like returning to our own room after a dense day, having our own space and rhythm, and being able to properly recover.

That said, we also know how to pause. On long trips, we schedule quieter moments: a few days in the same place, a guesthouse with good coffee, a beach where nothing happens. These calmer days are often the ones we remember best.

Our philosophy as a couple on the road is simple: do not overcomplicate things. Plans change, buses are late, the room is not the one from the photos. We are still in a beautiful place, together, doing what we love. Most problems quickly shrink when we keep that in mind.

Travelling as a gay couple

We do not hide, but we stay lucid. We adapt our gestures to local customs, not out of fear, but because we have no desire to shock or hurt the cultures that host us. We know we are visitors, travelers. We are not conquerors trying to impose a way of life, nor preachers trying to convert anyone. We are here to observe, learn, and respect.

That said, when it comes to the LGBTQ+ cause, our position is clear. We may not always be activists, but we will always defend this cause when it is attacked. Yes, because it is our life, but not only for that reason. Because it is simply a just cause. No one should be afraid to love who they love, regardless of sex, skin color, religion, or origin. This is our position, and we stand by it.

What we want to share through our content is this nuance. Reality as we live it: two men crossing very different cultures together, with warm welcomes, curious looks, unexpected kindness, and sometimes moments when we need to stay careful. We believe visibility told honestly, without naivety and without dramatization, can be useful. For the next couple preparing a similar trip. For a younger person somewhere who needs to see that the world is wider and more livable than they were told.

What you'll find on this website

This website brings together several things:

  • Travel stories, destination by destination
  • A photo gallery updated regularly
  • The journal of our world tour, destination after destination
  • Some of our earlier trips, because some of them truly marked us

The idea is not to produce yet another generic travel blog. We prefer writing less, but writing better: content we genuinely recognize ourselves in, and that we would want to read ourselves.
